A Las Vegas, Nevada native, Kyu Blu Kelly is a force to be reckoned with, coming in as an All-Pac-12 second team defensive back, PFF Team of the Week & Play of the Week, Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, Gundelach Award recipient for most outstanding junior player.
Kyu Blu Kelly has been coached well since his youth, hailing from Bishop Gorman high school, a top football high school in all of Nevada. Kyu appeared in 11 games, making 11 starts, finished sixth on the team with 58 tackles, and led the Pac-12, ranking 20th nationally with 12 passes defended (two interceptions, 10 deflections).
Kyu intercepted a pass in the endzone for his second career interception against Kansas State — earning play and team of the week honors from Pro Football Focus (Sept. 4). One of his biggest wins was that he had a career day in the win at No. 14 USC . . . scored his first touchdown on a 31-yard interception -- the first pick-6 by a Stanford player since Nov. 4, 2017 -- while breaking up four passes and making seven tackles (Sept. 11).
Kyu had two pass breakups and eight tackles -- tied for his career high -- at Vanderbilt (Sept. 18), had two pass break-ups and forced a fumble against Washington (Oct. 30), and recovered a fumble and broke up a pass against California (Nov. 20).
He’s ready to take on more as he enters his final year as a senior!
